Grimaldi boost for maintenance package
Cargo access specialist Cargotec has signed two new MacGregor Onboard Care all-inclusive contracts with Naples-based ro-ro shipowner Grimaldi Group.
The first is a repeat three-year deal covering 27 vessels, with an option for a further two-year extension.
The second involves nine vessels owned by Grimaldi subsidiary Atlantic Container Lines (ACL) and managed by ACL Ship Management.
Grimaldi Group corporate purchase director Giancarlo Coletta says: “The renewal and extension of the maintenance agreement with Cargotec is proof of the confidence we have gained in applying a preventive maintenance programme to vessels in our fleet.
“This is a prelude to the wider extension of these concepts to all vessels and companies controlled by the group. It demonstrates how a partnership approach is paying back in terms of a customer-supplier relationship.”
Currently more than 430 vessels are protected under a MacGregor care agreement, which applies to hatch covers, cranes, ro-ro equipment, offshore devices, bulk self-unloading gear and linkspans.
