Class trio upgrade websites
Three leading classification societies have announced major enhancements to their websites.
Bureau Veritas of France has upgraded its dedicated maritime site www.veristar.com – which is open to anyone - to make it easier to keep up with changes to statutory and class requirements. It has also added new functionalities for clients.
Users can register for free e-mail updates, which can be filtered if they are only interested in specific flags or vessel types. Benefits include the ability to search for approved marine equipment and machinery and view the certificates on line.
Improved links for clients provide a simple one-click dashboard for all their fleet. The totally secure web interface lets them know at a glance the survey and certificate status of their classed fleet, with alarms to warn of surveys or renewals required.
Genoa-based RINA has launched a new web interface in the marine member area of its website www.rina.org allowing immediate access to the society’s rules, updates and guidelines. In addition, the rules can now be downloaded in PDF format.
The new interface boosts measures to enhance the transparency of RINA rules and policies. Previously it offered free internet consultation on its ship classification rules, with all other rules available in paper format.
The web facility describes the contents of each publication, indicates the current available edition and explains how to order the paper format.
Meanwhile Japan’s ClassNK has introduced e-Application, a new on-line survey and audit application service allowing users to request class and statutory surveys of existing ships, ISM/ISPS ship audits and ISM company audits.
Access is via the web service portal page on the ClassNK website or through NK-SHIPS, its on-line ship survey and ISM/ISPS information search service. The link between e-Application and NK-SHIPS ensures that no survey due dates are missed.
