IMPA lands discount deal for major new LMA seminars
Reducing ship operating costs and improving supply chain management will be examined at two new seminars from Lloyd’s Maritime Academy in London in April – and IMPA members are being offered a 20% discount on the fees.
The leading training provider – a partner in the IMPA Diploma distance learning initiative – has launched the seminars at a time when managing the cost base and reducing wastage has never been more vital. Income streams have dropped, the outlook remains uncertain and companies need to maximise savings without compromising ship safety, crew welfare or service quality.
A two-day guide to streamlining operational costs takes place on April 29-30 with more than a dozen industry experts involved in presentations, panel discussions, round tables and a workshop session.
Topics include KPIs, crew management, fuel efficiency measures, bunker procurement strategies and ship/engine maintenance.
There will also be a major session on equipment, stores and spare parts. Specialist consultant Mark Rowbotham – one of the IMPA diploma course authors – will focus on supply chain developments such as forecasting, materials and inventory management, 3PLs, seafarer training to reduce expenditure and restructuring to improve financial performance. In addition, ShipServ founder and CEO Paul Ostergaard will discuss use of the Internet to cut costs and increase efficiencies.
On April 28 Mark Rowbotham will also be leading a dedicated seminar on international trade and supply chain management. The full-day programme offers a full analysis of compliance requirements and changes in customs control, logistics and supply chain procedures, supported by four case studies.
The seminars can be booked together or separately. There are major discounts for early bookers – up to £300 for registrations before March 5 – and a unique agreement gives IMPA members a further 20% off by quoting the code KS0193IMPAE.
