Conference…
The conference workshop sessions saw a radical change this year by updating the session format and increasing the number of workshops to four one hour sessions, two on each day of the conference.
These workshop sessions were also very successful, with many complimentary remarks made from the delegate audience. This year, the workshops were completely focussed on tackling key issues in the global marine industry and covered purchasing philosophy and strategy, reducing costs as well as looking at technologies, trends and the future of global marine logistics.
Each workshop session saw a record number of delegates attending and consequently saw some key issues being raised and a good debate being held between the panel members and also between the delegates themselves.

Exhibition…
The Exhibition side of the event also a resounding success and saw some popular developments, such as the marine themed Galleon pub on the stage area, Mexican themed Cocktail Party, various competitions and awards and a traditional fish & chip lunch being held on the second day. These new developments coupled with the fact that the exhibitors made a real effort with stand design (one of the awards was for the best ‘Proactive’ Stand Design, won by Scandia Stores) made for three lively and exciting exhibition halls where, according to visitor feedback, many new business relationships were made.

So, it looks like 2007 was a landmark event for the International Marine Purchasing Association and 2008 is already shaping up to be another fantastic event, with ideas already being discussed for the further and continued development of both the conference program and the exhibition.
