Born 1st May 1958 in Hamburg. After a six year term in technical and commercial education Matthias started his career as a technical purchaser in the ship supply business with an old established ship supply company in Hamburg. That was late 1979. He later concentrated on the procurement and marketing of ship spare parts and built up the spares and technical supply division, which was quite successful and soon became an important business for the company. Seeking and selling parts world-wide, beside shipchandling, was his job lasting many years. Lots of interesting contact with both purchasers at the buyers' end and sellers at the supplier end were built up over the period.

Later in the early 90's he became more and more involved in management functions and activity. Since some people always look for new challenges and Matthias considers himself to be such a person, he accepted the offer from ship owner Egon Oldedorff, to take over the control of the purchase and procurement for his fleet. So, since 1995 he has been in charge of guiding a team of motivated purchasers in order to supply and service over 70 vessels, trading world-wide.
