Raymond J Lacey

Stena Line Limited

Born Dublin, Ireland 1961. Married to Pauline, one daughter Shannon.

Educated Del La Salle brothers, Beneavin College Finglas, in November 2003 Ray was awarded his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Henley Management College, Henley-on-Thames, England, his dissertation title “A Knowledge management focus on leading organisational change”. In 2006 Ray successfully completed a Stena Line tailored Six Sigma black belt certification programme.

Spending 5 years (from 1980) as an external auditor Ray went on to spend 3 years as general manager - Catering and Functional events at the prestigious Phoenix Part racecourse in Ireland.  A further 3 years were spent gaining experience in the freight forwarding sector before joining his present employer Stena Line as a senior retail auditor in 1991.

Ray went on to become Audit Manager, Irish Sea Business area in 1998 and grew the role to include project management responsibilities.

Over the year’s Ray has been involved with many project’s, ranging from taking back in-house the distribution and warehousing function to his most recent (2003 – 5) as implementation manager for the area on a £16m new state of the art customer centric reservation and knowledge system. Other material projects include documenting processes for Sarbanes Oxley compliance and introducing a “procure to pay” system.

At the end of 2005 Ray took the opportunity of leading Stena Lines strategic initiative in procurement on the Irish Sea Business area. In this role Ray is tasked with formulating the business areas procurement’s vision, objectives and structure (for all spend categories other than  for resale), which best suits Stena Lines current and future operational environment and contributes to meeting the needs of its customers.

Ambition – is to add a new skill or material achievement to my CV every 2 year’s.

Ray joined the IMPA council in September 2006.
