BP Marine Fuels appoints new Chief Operating Officer

1 April 2008, BP Marine Fuels has announced the appointment of Graeme Alexander as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Alexander, who previously held the position of Asset Director for the Americas at Air BP, will assume his new role on 1 April. Reporting in to Air BP & Marine Fuels’ chief executive Rita Griffin, he will also be a member of the Air BP & Marine executive leadership team.

He replaces Parris Beverly, who has taken up a new role working directly with large customers on a strategic basis across the wider BP group.

Alexander said: “BP Marine Fuels enjoyed a successful 2007, including the expansion of capacity in both Rotterdam and Singapore, the opening of a new bunkering service in the Panama Canal and another year without any recordable spills. This year looks set to be another exciting one for us, and while I am looking forward to driving the business forward and securing new opportunities, our focus will be to continue to deliver a high value distinctive service to our customers”.

“BP Marine has a proud and enviable reputation for operating with the highest standards in safety, environmental care and customer service, and I am confident that these standards will be upheld while we look to continue providing safe storage, transportation and delivery of product to our customers across the world.”

BP Marine has already enjoyed a successful first quarter in 2008. Earlier this month, The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) announced that the company had maintained its position as Singapore's biggest bunker supplier by volume in 2007 for the fourth consecutive year.

Rita Griffin said: “Graeme has gained rich experience in a number of refining, supply and marketing roles, and brings strategic leadership to the marine fuels business. Managing the interface between Customers, Supply & Logistics and our Global Oil Trading function will enable BP Marine to continue optimising value in existing ports and explore potential growth with customers.”

“Last year BP Marine Fuels thrived in many key areas, including safety & operations, improved transactional accuracy, product quality, sales and marketing activities. I am confident that Graeme’s appointment, and the experience and fresh perspective he brings, combined with his deep business knowledge and that of the current Marine Fuels team, will see the business maintain its high performance standards.”
