Portinvest adds van Esch International to her package of maritime services

Takeover causes exceptional expansion of services

06 March 2008 - Portinvest BV, one of the leading maritime service providers in the Port of Rotterdam and active in waste collection, emission solutions for dangerous goods and rental of fenders and hoses , has completed the acquisition of Van Esch International BV, active as transporter  and forwarder of shipsupplies and spare parts, on March 1st .

Since 1966 Van Esch International is a well known name in the port of Rotterdam with her cranebarges and  is an important link in the logistical chain for vessel owners

The acquisition fits in the strategy to combine different maritime services in the port and to professionalize, and strengthen  the increasing service demand for vessels calling the Port of Rotterdam

This acquisition offers the opportunity to combine forces in a way that a high service level towards ship owners and agents can be offered  which meets today’s increasing demand” comments Andreas Drenthen, since January 1st managing director and co-shareholder of Portinvest.

A Portinvest related company, Burando Holding, is active in oil logistics with her barge company FTS Hofftrans and Service Terminal Rotterdam of which recently a stake was sold to a Singapore stock listed company

Bernard Muller, shareholder and member of the board of Burando adds: “after selling a stake in Burando, in which our maritime services were excluded, we were seeking to an additional growth impulse for this division and of course, due to our experience and expertise in the port there will be substantial cost efficiencies between both divisions which in some cases are extremely complementary to each other”

Burando Maritime Logistics, the name under which the services will be combined is now offering a complete package of services e.g. waste collection, fender and hose rental, emission solutions and as of now also ship supplies and spare parts.
